Stirling MP Steven Paterson has submitted a motion to the UK Parliament congratulating four swimmers from the University of Stirling who have been chosen to represent Team GB at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
The motion, backed by a number of MPs across a number of parties states:
That this House congratulates the four University of Stirling swimmers, Duncan Scott, Robbie Renwick, Ross Murdoch, and Craig Benson, who have been chosen to represent the Team GB swimming team at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games; celebrates the talents of these Scottish swimmers; hopes that these four swimmers compete in future Olympic Games; commends the University of Stirling for its excellent scholarship programme which has created world-class athletes; and wishes them the best of luck at the Rio Olympic Games.

“This is a great achievement for Duncan, Robbie, Ross, and Craig who have shown real commitment which has paid off.
“The University of Stirling is Scotland’s university of sporting excellence, a status that I am proud to represent in my constituency and I have committed much of my time both in Parliament and locally to making sport fair, accessible, and rewarding for all.
