AGM and Branch meeting 2016

Branch meeting

A busy meeting this month which mostly dealt with internal branch business so we won’t go into too much detail on a public website, but members will get the minutes of the AGM and meeting in due course.

All current Office bearers presented their annual reviews and outgoing Secretary  David Wilson and Treasurer Ross McArthur ( both standing down)  were all thanked for their service to the Branch, the Party and the cause of Independence for Scotland whether they were standing for re-election or not.

A number of the roles were contested leading to a paper ballot which is a healthy sign for any branch that we have a membership keen to be involved. Thanks to those who stood- we are grateful to have such enthusiastic members.

Our new branch executive is as follows:

Convener: Andrew Szwebs

Vice Convener: Morag Fulton

Secretary: Grant Thoms

Treasurer: Alison Laurie

Political Education Officer: Susan McGill

Women & Equalities Officer: Maureen Bennison

Disabilities Officer: Morag Fulton

Membership Secretary: Lee Robb

Press Officer: Lee Robb

Branch Organiser: Melanie Cowie

Minute Secretary: Jamie Walker

Aodhan Byrne

Aodhan Byrne ably chaired our AGM this year. Thanks to him from the Branch.

The branch would like to extend its thanks to Vice Convener of Bridge of Allan Branch, Aodhan Byrne who chaired proceedings at our AGM.

Following the AGM we had a summary of activities over the last month from Andrew Szwebs, who spoke about the forthcoming Council Elections and the Guardians of Scotland Trust, and event at Stirling Bridge on Sunday. We had a Council report from Scott Farmer that focussed primarily on the Stirling City Deal initiative and also on the current situation regarding Gillies Hill.

Lee Robb gave us a run down of Steven Paterson’s activities, with Westminster just having returned after Summer recess.

A well attended and busy meeting, we hope to continue with similar or growing attendances as the winter beckons All members welcome.
