April Branch Meeting Report

nicola_crawfordA fairly brief branch meeting this month as the branch is actively campaigning and there were a few absences both for this and personal reasons.

The branch is busy campaigning and things seem to be going well however we must not grow complacent, an SNP win is in no way assured and we must fight to ensure #BothVotesSNP with every supporter or voter. It is the only way to ensure we return not only an SNP Scottish Government but an SNP majority government.

Lee Robb gave us a run down of Steven Paterson’s activities which are fairly well documented here on the site if you look under the Category press releases.

Jim Thomson gave us a short overview of council activities, and touched on the budgetary cuts being applied that are leading to job losses though so far the full overall impact to jobs and services is unknown.

We currently have a vacancy on the branch executive for a Deputy Convener as David Devenney has stood down. A couple of nominations were received but the consensus opinion due to the absences this week, was to hold an election and receive any other nominations at the next meeting in May. Any members wishing to be considered should make the Convener aware so the process can be discussed. The position will be until the branch AGM  in September when all positions are re-visited.

We are looking for a good turn out for canvassing over the remaining few weeks of the campaign. Anyone who thinks they can help please contact Mel the organiser for full details.
