February Branch meeting and AGM report

Last night was the 2015 branch AGM and a new committee was appointed for this forthcoming very important year. Andrew Szwebs will remain in place as Convenor, which is  the role he has been doing since taking over from Cllr Steven Paterson, when Steven announced his candidacy for Westminster.

A new Vice Convenor , David Devenney was appointed and David Wilson remains as Secretary.

The Convenor will send out a full list of all appointments at some point in the near future but a warm welcome is given to all who have stepped up to take executive places.

Delegates to the Constituency Association were approved and the present members were offered paid places at conference,  but as demand was higher than supply, a draw will take place for the paid places.

As a result of the huge increase in branch numbers the branch is now able to send over 30  members to conference. 6 will be paid for by the branch and the remaining places will be allocated to members expressing a desire to attend but at members own expense.

Steven Paterson

Parliamentary candidate Steven Paterson

Steven Paterson gave a great overview of the fantastic progress being made in his campaign to get elected for Westminster. Feedback has been great and the turn out to canvassing tremendous. Branch members can contact Steven via the campaign website to get involved and are strongly encouraged to do so- there is lots to do!

The sub group reports showed progress has been made in branch communications led by Susan McGill, members are urged to sign up for the newsletter  and also if they wish for updates to the site. Members who know other members who are not regular attenders at the meetings are urged to let them know about the newsletter and website ( see sidebar on this page!), and various Social Media streams.

Fundraising too has come up with loads of new ideas and we hope to keep members informed here of various initiatives and how members can get involved. Please contact the fundraising address via the contacts page for more information from David Devenney.

The organising group led by Melanie has been busy and will be the focal point for contact about forthcoming campaigning for the General Election, so get in touch if you are getting involved!

We also have the annual Robert the Bruce dinner coming up, tickets are £25 on Event Brite, where even if you can’t come but would like to make a donation, they will also be gratefully received.

A donation was made and warmly received by Christina Hendry on behalf of the Stirling University Scottish Nationalist Association ( SUSNA) for £100 to help with their campaigning and promotion.
