Stirling MP Steven Paterson recently met with Start-Up Stirling Foodbank to discuss challenges facing the charity organisation in the run-up to the Christmas period.
Last year, the period over Christmas was one of the busiest faced by Start-Up Stirling since it was established.
Mr Paterson is calling on locals to support Start-Up over Christmas with donations of food and other items which will be used to support individuals and families facing severe financial difficulties. Items urgently needed include:
- UHT milk;
- Tinned fish;
Find out more about how you can donate by calling Start-Up on 01786 561 027.
The charity has also launched a Feed A Family Appeal in a bid to raise £15K. Links to the fundraising page can be found on the Start-Up website: www.startupstirling.org.uk
Commenting, Steven Paterson said:
“Christmas can be a very difficult time for a lot of families who struggle to make ends meet and the work that Start-Up Stirling do to support those in such a vulnerable situation goes a long way in easing some of that strain.
“It is vital that the organisation has the funds and resources to be able to offer that support and that’s why I’m calling on constituents to consider what they can spare for those in need this Christmas.”
