Stirling’s MP Steven Paterson has welcomed Stirling Council’s rollout of CCTV cameras across the area this summer.
Whilst a Councillor for the Stirling East Ward, Mr. Paterson began a campaign for further CCTV provision in the area of the Borestone roundabout – one of the locations the have the new temporary CCTV cameras installed.
At a meeting of the Stirling Council Public Safety Committee last week, Councillors heard that the rollout of new CCTV cameras had been completed and that they had already been successful in assisting Police Scotland in bringing charges against an assault suspect.
Commenting, Steven Paterson said:
“Local residents to areas that have a reputation of anti-social behaviour will welcome the arrival of CCTV cameras. These cameras will act as a deterrent as much as they will assist police in their investigations – with proven success already as I understand an assault suspect is now facing charges.
“This would not have been possible if it had not been for the determination of local communities, the hard work of Stirling Council officers, and cooperation of Police Scotland.”
