Stirling MP Steven Paterson recently attended the launch of the Poppy Scotland 2016 appeal. The launch took place in Dover House, London, and was attended by a number of MPs – including the SNP’s own defence policy team, of which Mr Paterson is a member.
Poppy Scotland is under the Early Haig Fund and the first appeal was in 1921 with the aim of raising funds to: provide financial assistance for former service personnel and their families; provide advice on pensions and other service claims; support employment for veterans; grants to deliver specialist services to veterans in Scotland.
Commenting, Steven Paterson said:
“Poppy Scotland appeals now form part of our commemoration of the bravery and sacrifice that millions of people have made on our behalf – these men and women commit their lives to protecting ours and it is right that they are properly supported.
“Members of the public can get involved with Poppy Scotland by donating, volunteering, and fundraising. For more information on how you can help, visit the Poppy Scotland website at www.poppyscotland.org.uk.”
