This week, local Stirling MP Steven Paterson will be delivering information packs on Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) to all schools across the Stirling area.
The information packs, produced by the HMD Trust, are designed to help promote HMD and educate young people on the importance of marking the anniversary of the liberation of Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau – the site of the largest mass murder in history.
Next week, Mr Paterson will be signing the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment in Parliament, pledging to honour those who were murdered during the Holocaust.
Steven Paterson commented:
“HMD marks the anniversary of the end of one of the darkest periods of human history where power-driven hatred saw the callous murder of millions of innocent people. Each generation owes it to the next to educate how division and bigotry has devastated lives throughout our past, with powerful lessons to be learned for our future.
“Every year, the Holocaust Educational Trust reach out to local representatives to take this powerful message to schools in honour of those who lost their lives during the horrors of the Holocaust and I know that these information packs will go some way in supporting teachers and pupils across the Stirling area as they mark Holocaust Memorial Day this year.”
