Stirling MP, Steven Paterson, has written to the Managing Director of First Bus to voice the anger of a number of constituents who were left hanging at bus stops with no information to tell them that their service had been cancelled.
First Bus have recently undergone a review of all services with a number of routes being either changed or cancelled. Alongside Stirling’s MSP Bruce Crawford, Mr Paterson met with representatives from First Bus to discuss this process earlier in the year.
Steven Paterson said:
“Many of my constituents only found out that their regular bus service had been changed or cancelled when it didn’t turn up to the bus stop. This is an appalling situation travelling to work or to access local services.
“When Bruce Crawford and I met with First Bus representatives, we were assured that bus users would be kept up to date with the consultation process and any proposed changes – it is now clear that this has not always been the case. At the very least, notice should have been given at every affected bus stop in the weeks leading up to these changes, and bus stop timetables themselves ought to have been updated immediately.
“I have written to the Managing Director of First Bus to raise these concerns, to request that these bus timetables be updated as a matter of priority, and to ask what measures will be taken in future so that First Bus customers are never left in the lurch like this again.”
