This weekend saw the SNP host its Spring conference, at the SECC one of the few Scottish venues large enough to host an event of this size.
As Brian Taylor, political correspondent of BBC Scotland stated “to say that this conference is upbeat understates it entirely, they [the SNP] are galvanised, it’s electric…”
Saturday seen the Keynote speech by party leader Nicola Sturgeon. You can read the transcript here. During Nicola’s speech she announced that party membership now numbered 102, 143. Following her speech a further 700 new members joined!
Sunday seen speeches by Deputy First Minister John Swinney and a closing speech by Stewart Hosie Deputy Leader. As the conference closed, all the SNP’s Westminster candidates arrived on stage to a standing ovation by the party membership, our candidate Steven Paterson was on stage and posted this image on facebook.
Our branch sent 35 delegates to the conference 10 of whom were sponsored by the branch.
