At a packed event at the Smith Art Gallery and Museum on last Friday evening, local SNP members were addressed by MSPs Keith Brown and Bruce Crawford, and Councillors Alycia Hayes and Fergus Wood, and prospective candidate Steven himself.

CA Convener Cat Robertson then asked members to formally approve Steven candidacy, which was done by acclaim.

Commenting, Steven said: “As someone who was born and raised in Stirling, I’m hugely honoured to have been formally endorsed as the SNP candidate for the Stirling constituency in the UK Parliamentary Election, and with the support of members and supporters from across the constituency, I am determined to take the SNP’s positive message to every community in the area.

“We need a strong voice at Westminster to represent the Stirling constituency and make sure that Scotland is heard. If elected, I will dedicate myself to working for the best interests of people across the Stirling area and playing my full part in a strong SNP group that could hold the balance of power in the next parliament.”
