Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity visited Parliament recently to give MPs a chance to show their support for their awareness raising drive – Wear it Pink.
This is the charity’s largest fundraising event and managed to raise £2 million in funds last year.
Commenting, Steven Paterson MP said:
“These events are a great opportunity for me as an MP to show my support for the efforts of charities that work hard to raise awareness and fund research to beat cancer. Breast Cancer Now are currently funding over £26 million of research in order to combat this terrible disease.
“Nearly 1,000 women across the UK die from breast cancer each month – an awful situation for families left behind. Each year, another 50,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer – with an estimated 700,000 people living with the disease.
“Breast Cancer Now aims to ensure that by 2050, everyone who is diagnosed with breast cancer survives. I would urge constituents to look into how they can support this charity by checking out the website at breastcancernow.org.”
