Saturday was an opportunity for all our wonderful members across the Constituency Association who worked so hard to get Steven Paterson elected as MP for Stirling Constituency, to come together and let their hair down. Steven’s election celebration was held at Cambusbarron Bowling Club and was very well attended by our members from across the constituency, as well as some well known political faces such as Bruce Crawford MSP and Keith Brown MSP, the Stirling Council SNP group and members of Steven’s family.
But the election is over and Steven has packed his bags and is off to Westminster to start the hard work or representing everyone in Stirling and in Scotland, whether they voted for him or not.
Here in the branch we have work to do too. It’s less than a year now to the next Scottish Parliament Elections. The branch has work of a lighter nature to get down to, in rebuilding the finances over the summer. The fundraising group have been hard at work coming up with plans to fill the war chest once again, and if you were at last weeks meeting no doubt you heard some of these ideas. Once they have more flesh on the bones, it would be appropriate for the fundraising group to post up their proposals here. They are looking for volunteers to do the West Highland Way probably some time late summer or early Autumn. Walkers of course are welcome who will be sponsored, but also support crew are needed too. Contact David Devenney our Vice Convener and chair of the fund raising group for more details.
Our Political Education Officer has been working hard to get us speakers of interest and next month’s branch meeting is due to be attended by Humsa Yousaf so thats sure to be a popular event.
The GE2015 campaign is over but their is plenty for our members to get involved in. Work hard and this time next year we will be able to celebrate another rousing win in the Scottish Elections.
