Stirling’s Council Leader, Scott Farmer, has welcomed the Scottish Government’s commitment to doubling the available funding for city deals at the recent Draft Budget announcement last month.
Stirling MSP Bruce Crawford has met with Stirling council Leader Scott Farmer, Provost Christine Simpson as well as Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary Keith Brown to discuss developments with the Stirling City Region Deal.

SNP politicians in Stirling have said that negotiations relating to the Stirling City Region Deal are going in a positive direction as talks continue between the Scottish Government, Stirling Council, and the UK Government.
Stirling Council’s initial seven-point-proposal is a comprehensive business plan that aims to encourage investment and create employment and business opportunities in the local area. The SNP Group have remained consistent that these plans cannot focus centrally on Stirling City and that every community must feel the benefits of the City Region Deal.
Stirling MP Steven Paterson has welcomed today’s announcement of a City Deal for Stirling. The Chancellor of the Exchequer committed the UK Government to a city deal for Stirling during his Autumn Statement earlier today.
The City Deal bid seeks investment that will improve local infrastructure and encourage business growth and jobs within Stirling. The hard work of Stirling Council Officers in producing a gold standard comprehensive business plan for Stirling has been highly commended by UK Government ministers, local representatives, and civil servants alike.
Mr Paterson led a delegation of local representatives in discussions in Whitehall in September this year, calling for the UK Government to commit to a city deal for Stirling.
Earlier this week, the Scottish Government announced its commitment to working with the UK Government in delivering City Deal investment for Stirling.
