Boris Johnson’s Tories Failing on Cost of Living Crisis
Voters across Stirling will have the opportunity to send the Tories a clear message on Thursday 5th May, as residents head to the polls to elect new Stirling Councillors.
Stirling SNP are the only party standing enough candidates to win a majority – proof of our cast-iron commitment and capacity to stand up and deliver for our communities.
Each of Stirling’s seven wards have two excellent SNP candidates, ready to help tackle the cost of living crisis, invest in our high streets and city centre, develop resilient public services and build a positive future for Stirling.
If re-elected, your SNP Council will:
- Continue to participate in the Scottish Attainment Challenge to support education recovery and accelerate progress in tackling the poverty related attainment gap.
- Monitor and expand mental health support for children and young people including exploring the feasibility of introducing a “Wellbeing Hour” of free activities for young people.
- Work with the Scottish Government to ensure Stirling plays its part in delivering their ambition of 100,000 affordable homes throughout Scotland by 2031/32.
- Ensure social housing rent levels remain affordable for low-income households including the most vulnerable members of our communities.
- Support our communities to develop 20-minute neighbourhoods. This concept aims to ensure that all essential services are within 20-minutes of people’s homes.
- Ban single-use plastics in our schools and Council owned properties.
- Back the creation of railway stations at Bridge of Allan (Cornton Vale),Cowie and Causewayhead, whilst ensuring there is no loss of the existing Bridge of Allan railway station.
- Work with the Forth Valley Connectivity Commission to support better connectivity across the region and explore the feasibility of creating new sustainable transport routes particularly in rural areas.
- Introduce a new Volunteer Charter to empower individuals and communities to help in their communities whilst operating in a safe and supportive environment.
