Support Available For All Eligible Families With Children Under-16
The Scottish Child Payment has been increased from £20 to £25 per week per child, meaning 1,555 families across Stirling are set to receive a boost to their household incomes from the Scottish Government.
Eligibility for the payment – which is only available in Scotland – has also been extended, meaning eligible families in Stirling with children under the age of 16 can now apply for the Scottish Child Payment.
Alyn Smith MP and Evelyn Tweed MSP are encouraging families in Stirling to apply for the support.
‘We’re living through tough times, and families across many communities in Stirling will be extremely worried this winter. The extension of the Scottish Child Payment from £20 to £25 could be a turning point for many, and help to ease some of the cost-of-living pressures this festive season.
‘Social security has been, and always will be under an SNP Scottish Government, an investment in the people of Scotland and communities the length and breadth of the country. Anti-poverty charities already hailed the Payment as ‘game-changing’ for families with children under-6; now the Scottish Government has gone even further. Extra-cash in the pockets of families will be crucial to get through this Tory-made cost of living crisis.’
