Regional Investment in Stirling’s Future Welcomed
Stirling MP Alyn Smith has welcomed an announcement from Stirling Council, confirming Cowie and Callander as investment sites for regional digital hubs as part of the £90.2 million Stirling and Clackmannanshire City Region Deal.
The £2 million in Scottish Government investment stems from the overall Growth Deal and will help strengthen Stirling’s digital competitiveness – as well as supporting national priorities as identified in a recent review of Scotland’s technology ecosystem, by former Skyscanner executive Mark Logan.
As businesses and organisations across Scotland look to recover from the pandemic, strategic investment to support local talent in the growing industries of the future will be mission critical for sustaining economic growth.

‘This is really welcome news, and will help boost Stirling’s already impressive digital sector. Our central proximity in Scotland helps connect us to the dynamic economies of Edinburgh in the east and Glasgow in the west, as well as offering reasonable travel times to much of mainland Scotland in the north.
‘Our high streets and city centre are going through a period of renewal, and it’s my strong belief initiatives such as digital regional hubs will play a huge part in anchoring these places as economic engines for the years ahead. Stirling Council continues to play a huge role in developing Stirling’s local economy, both urban and rural, and I’m excited to see what lies ahead.’
