Local MSP Urges Stirling to Use Free Covid Tests

Local Stirling MSP Evelyn Tweed has urged communities across Stirling to participate in free, regular testing for Covid-19 in a bid to halt the spread.

Free lateral flow home testing kits are available for pick up without appointment from many local walk-in or drive-through test sites from 3:30pm each day. Orders can also be placed online or over the phone, for people to test themselves twice weekly.

Today (Wednesday 9th), Health Secretary Humza Yousaf announced an expansion of the scheme to cover community pharmacies, to help encourage further uptake of testing amongst people with no symptoms.

Evelyn Tweed MSP said:

‘Regular testing can help unearth cases of the virus in people demonstrating no symptoms. Rapid test kits remain a valuable tool in helping to combat Covid-19 and reduce the spread, and I’d urge people in Stirling to order their free kit today.

‘With vaccination rates climbing, and tests freely and widely available, together Stirling can drive down case numbers through early detection and isolation, helping reduce disruption and save lives. My thanks go out to our health and social care workers, including volunteers working on vaccination efforts, for their hard work and commitment shown to Stirling’s communities throughout this awful pandemic.’
