SNP Representatives Urge Action from Labour-Tory Council
Stirling North Councillors Jim Thomson and Susan McGill have repeated their concerns over continued delays to new housing in Raploch, as officials from Stirling Council and developers continue to wrangle over engineering faults.
Buildings affected include developments on Drip Road and Raploch Road, with engineers and contractors working to find fixes to suspected faults.
It is still not yet known if a technical solution can be found to stabilise the affected buildings – full demolition and rebuild cannot be ruled out.
Local Stirling North ward Councillor Jim Thomson said:
‘We’re months on and potential residents are still no clearer as to when they can move into these properties. The pressures on housing in Stirling are no different than the rest of the country, and these delays are simply unacceptable. Labour and the Tories must answer for it, and a clear decision taken on how these faults will be made right – either by technical intervention or a full demolition and rebuild. Families can’t afford further indecision.’
Local Stirling North ward Councillor Susan McGill said:
‘Further delays from all involved will not help affected households and families urgently in need of these properties. I remain very concerned over the length of time this investigation is taking, and would expect a greater sense of urgency given the potential need to demolish and rebuild – which will add even more time on. Labour’s Stirling Council Leader Chris Kane must get to grips with this and fast.’
