Stirling politicians Alyn Smith MP and Evelyn Tweed MSP have warmly welcomed the accolade, as Stirling edged out every other Scottish city and town to be crowned the happiest place to live in Scotland.
The ‘happy at home’ index from property firm Right Move covers several different factors with survey participants, including friendliness and community spirit, access to nature and green spaces, the quality of amenities such as local shops and retail, hospitality venues, schools and sports facilities – as well as whether people feel they can be themselves, and have access to opportunities to develop themselves.
This award comes as community partners continue work on Stirling’s City of Culture 2025 bid, in which Stirling remains the last Scottish city standing.

‘I’m very pleased to see Stirling recognised for the wonderful place it is. We’ve so much going for us, and so many organisations, businesses and community groups are doing so much to improve the lives of everyone who lives here and calls us home.
‘We’re the only Scottish city still in the running to be UK City of Culture and have big plans to lead the Forth Valley to net carbon and a just transition. I’m proud to represent this diverse and welcoming community.’
