Stirling MP Promotes Small Business Saturday
Local MP Alyn Smith has praised Stirling’s businesses and urged consumers to buy locally this festive season to support our small firms, high streets and city centre.
Small Business Saturday, now in its 10th year, is a national campaign encouraging communities to support small local businesses on Saturday 3rd December and beyond. Shoppers are asked to buy goods and services locally where possible, leave positive reviews and tell their friends and family members about the businesses they love to visit.
As of March 2022, over 350,000 Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) were operating in Scotland, providing an estimated 1.2 million jobs – 55.9% of private sector employment – and accounted for 99.4% of all private sector businesses as of March 2022.
‘Small businesses are the lifeblood of Stirling’s local economy, generating wealth, jobs and driving forward innovation. This Saturday, I’m encouraging all shoppers to play their part and choose a local outlet for their festive needs. Even positive reviews by word of mouth or on social media can help celebrate their success. Small businesses play a huge role in developing the success of Stirling as a great place to visit, live, work or study. This Saturday, let’s show we’ve got their backs in these difficult times.’
